                    OSM AWARDS MISSISSIPPI $30,224
              TO REGULATE SURFACE EFFECTS OF COAL MINING

    The Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) is providing Mississippi a $30,224 grant to assist the state in
regulating the surface effects of coal mining.

    The grant will assist in funding for a comprehensive revision of Mississippi
coal mining rules and regulations in support of the state's permanent regulatory
program.
