                  OSM AWARDS OHIO $1, 296, 657 TO ASSIST 
                 IN REGULATING SURFACE EFFECTS OF COAL MINING 


          The Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and

Enforcement (OSM) has awarded Ohio a $1, 296, 657 grant to help

the state regulate the surface effects of coal mining. 

     The grant will assist in funding half of the state's inspection and 

enforcement costs, including equipment, supplies and transportation.
