Women in Mining Honored for 30-years Outstanding Service
The Denver Chapter of Women in Mining was honored during the 105th National Western Mining Conference for its 30 years of service to Colorado's mining industry. The native marble and brass plaque reads "Special Recognition Award 2002 Presented to Colorado Chapter of Women in Mining for 30 years of outstanding service to Colorado in mining education, historic preservation, and services to local communities." The plaque was presented to Karen Jass (Office of Surface Mining, Western Regional Coordinating Center), national president of Women in Mining and immediate past president of the Denver Chapter, by Ron Cattany, director of the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology and Greg Walcher, executive director of Colorado's Department of Natural Resources.
